I grew up helping my grandfather with many different projects from building a picket fence, to replacing old wiring in the house he grew up in, to restoring historic buildings on the property where he was raised. Throughout my life I have continued learning, improving my skills, and expanding my skill set on the foundation he helped me set. This led me to become an avid DIYer and I make sure to do a professional job that will satisfy safety and code requirements. During my years in college and graduate school, I gained a great appreciation for those who were able to change how they taught so that each students' learning needs could be addressed. I sought to emulate these traits in my own teaching and feel that I do an exceptional job teaching in a way that those I teach can both understand and relate to. Starting in high school I started teaching myself about computers, first teaching myself how to build and repair the physical components, then how to use different interfaces, and have gradually increased my understanding of computers and how to work with them and fix them over the years. As a part of this I learned some of the basics of programming in C++ and Java. I also learned how to setup and use an external boot drive that would allow for me to recover files from a crashed drive or even deleted files. I also use this drive to find and eliminate problematic software including malware and viruses. I've been helping my friends fix their computer problems for many years now.
